~!~!~CLASSES OF STAKERS~!~!~
Post 2
Ok, there are many different classes of stakers. We have the 1 defence pures, we have the semi pures, the defence pures, the 40 defence pures, prayer beasts, and finally the tanks. Some say one class rules them all, but in truth, no one class rules all the stakers.
Ok, so here we have the 1 defence pures. 1 defence pures usually stick with 2 skills, mage-range, mage-melee, mel
ee-range. Sticking with 2 skills gives you a wider range of options for stake dueling, while keeping your combat fairly low. These pures have 1 defence and 1 prayer.
Ok, here are the semi pures. These have a reputations for owning everything and everybody in their path. If there is one certain class that owns all, this is the class. They generally have high attack and strength (in the 90s), 52 prayer, and 1 defence. They can be in the 90s in combat with VERY high strength and attack, and with their 52 prayer they rip their oponent's prayer to shreds. After ripping up the opponent's prayer, the opponent can no longer use protect item in the wilderness. A good strategy in my opinion. Semi pures are generally pkers, but can stake duel.
Now here we have the defence pures. They have a reputation of hitting constants have hardly ever getting hit. In food fights they generally use maybe half their inventory of food in a fight with an avarage player. These files usually have 70 defence, between 30 and 50 strength, and 70+ attack.

Continuation.
Post 3
They generally use full Verac (suggested), or full Torags and an abbyssel whip and an obsedian shield.
Now here we have prayer beasts. These are not very common, but if made correctly, they can own pretty good. They normally substitute defence with prayer. They have really high prayer and little or no defence. There really isn't much to say about prayer beasts.
Infinity mages are discussed later.
Ok, now on to 40 defence pures. These are somewhat common, but mostly for people who don't plan on raising the main stat past 90. They are not bad at staking, the melee stakers use full rune or no armor, the mages and rangers use blk dhide or splitbark or skeletal. Some people call their 40 def pures "semi tanks". This usually occurs with the mages. 40 defence pures are usually more successfull during the lower levels, and it is mostly the mages that are more successfull. The mage semi tanks often outgrow the 40 defence and go on to 70 defence to be official tanks. I'll go into detail later.
Ok, on to tanks. These are pretty much magic only. Melee "tanks" are usually the 70 def pures who use verac. Mage tanks are usually in the upper 80s or lower 90s in combat and generally wear full Ahrims with an ancient staff using ice barrage. Many of these tanks are graduated semi tanks. They are very effective in taking down small groups of pkers. Most of the time it only takes 1 or 2 to take down an army of melee'res
~!~!~1 DEF PURES~!~!~
Post 4
1 Defence pures, the most common types of pures in the game. Why are they so common? Because they are very good at no armor staking. When you have a 1 def pure, make sure to keep 1 defence (don't kill it if you get 2 or 3 or even 6 by accident) and 1 prayer.
A good starter for melee: Do horror from the deep, and other quests that give attack xp before getting 60 attack. Remember, quests are easy xp and after you have 60 attack you don't need any higher (yet). I suggest you train on rock crabs or experiments or thugs in edgeville dungeon. The thugs are good xp at a lower level. Then move on to rock crabs, experiemnts, or fire elemental*.
Attack: 60
Strength: 72
Hits: 62
Combat: 58
From here, get 59 magic, and do family crest (steel gauntlets help), get 70 range (black dhide legs help tons for training and pking), and do troll stronghold to get climbing boots (def and strength bonus, aids training a lot). From here, go all out strength. When you hit 80-88 strength, you are in the pro zone. Good job.

Post 5
For a magic-range 1 def pure, heres a starter. Use fire strikes to get 55 mage, and high alch to 60. Get 53 thieving and 35 agility and get ghost robes and zammy book. Do mage arena and get Guthix claws and cast inside the arena till you can use it outside.
Magic: 60
Hitpoints: 45
Combat: around 40.
From there, keep high alching to 70 or so magic. Start raising ranged to raise hitpoints and as a secondary fighting skill. Get about 75 mage and 72 ranged and do desert treasure. From there, (***r) pk, stake duel, whatever. Just keep high alching and go for 94 mage. But remember, keep that ranged close to that magic!
~!~!~DEF PURES~!~!~
Post 6
These are the guys with 70 def, 70 attk, and very low strenght who use whips and torags, or full verac. Not the best, but not too bad. The starter will hit constants up to 9.
For starters:
Attack: 70
Strength: 40
Defence: 70
Hits: 66
Combat: 68
From there, you may want to raise your strength to 50 to increase your max hit by a bit. After 52 strength, use accurate for every duel. May want to raise your attack really high after hitting 52 strength so you hit VERY constantly.
~!~!~INFINITY MAGES~!~!~
Post 7
Semi tanks are mainly magic, and I will post accordingly. A pure mage will often increase to 25 defence for the new infinity armor. It works really well in staking. So some 1 def mage pures graduate to infinity pures. Infinity pures sometimes graduate to semi tanks, who finally graduate to tanks if they are determined.
Basic starter: Do horror from deep and desert treasure.
Attack: 50 (ancient staff)
Magic: 70
Defence: 25
Range: 70 (for hitpoints)
Prayer: 13 (came from priest in peril)
Hitpoints: 60? (Unpredictable with mage)
Combat: 57 or so.
Semi tank: Do desert treasure, horror from deep.
Attack: 50 (staff)
Mage: 82 (blitz)
Ranged: 80 ranged (cnsr- hit points)
Hits: 72 or so
Defence: 40 (splitbark or skeletal)
Combat: 69
~!~!~SEMI TANKS~!~!~
Post 8
To make a semi tank, you can graduate from infinity mage, or simply make one from scratch. You should probably cast fire strike to 55 magic, then high alch to 82. After this, raise your ranged to 80 to increase your hitpoints and again, to give you a wider selection of combat styles during a fight.
Semi tank: Do desert treasure, horror from deep.
Attack: 50 (staff)
Mage: 82 (blitz)
Ranged: 80 ranged (cnsr- hit points)
Hits: 72 or so
Defence: 40 (splitbark or skeletal)
Combat: 69
~!~!~TANKS~!~!~
Post 9
Ok, finally on to the tanks. Since almost all tanks are mages I will catagorize them as such.
To make a tank, you can upgrade from semi tank, or make one from scratch. I suggest making a semi tank and upgrading. This will make things much easier for you and you won't have some really distant goal.
There isn't really a starter for a tank, tanks are the products of hard work and dedication. For a tank mage, you have done desert treasure and horror from the deep. Tank mages are usually for pking, but can own in the duel arena as well.
Tank mage:
Attack: 70 (staff, whip)
Strength: 48 (maxing 10, def training)
Mage: 94 (Barrage)
Range: 92 (censor - hitpoints, max hit)
Hitpoints: 87 or so
Defence: 70 (Ahrim)
Combat without prayer: 86
Combat with 52 prayer: 91
Tank ranger:
Attack: 70
Strength: 56
Range: 96
Defence: 70
Hitpoints: 85
Combat: 85
Stake in full Torags and a Karils crossbow, ranger boots as boots, use a fury or glory.
~!~!~SEMI PURES~!~!~
Ok, I was going to post this right below 1 def pures, but I forgot (hey, it's 1 o clock in the morning!). So here it is...
Semi pures are often graduates from the 1 def pures class. They have decided that the dragon weapons and 60 attack is done. They have made a bit of money stake dueling and pking and are ready to move on. Semi pures will have very high attack and strength (in the 90s) and normally 52 prayer. Semi pures are VERY powerfull and I know one of them PKs while wearing a white p-hat. Now rethink your idea that they blow. They are not to be triffled with. When you make your semi pure, get 59 mage and 70 ranged for blk dhide and steel gaunts. Also do troll stronghold for climbing boots. Trust me, these small bits will help a lot in training. Continue training on experiments, or go exploring other monsters that are good xp.
Note: Some semi pures have low defence like 20.
For starters:
Attack: 70
Strength: 68
Defence: 1-20
Hits: 65
Prayer: 52
Combat: 77 (with 1 def)
Combat (no prayer): 61
From here, continue raising your attack and strength. Use an abby whip when pking and stake dueling, and a dragon skimmy for strength training. Good luck!
A decent semi pure I saw recently was Aquafighter (yes, I got her permission to write her name here). She was level 82 when I met her and had 78 strength, 30 defence (I think shoulda been 20 max), 80 attack. She put up one hell of a fight. I was lvl 101 when I fought her. I won 1.3m off of her but she kind of expected it. I was after all, 19 levels higher.
~!~!~QUICK PKER~!~!~
Post 11
If you are strapped for time and cash, use this plan. It's a decent, quick, easy, and fairly inexpensive pker or staker. Use fire strikes on lessers on f2p to get 60 mage then make it p2p.
Prayer free: This would certainly own at a low level in some place like edgeville dungeon or dueling low lvls.
Mage: 60 (use zammy flames or guthix claws)
Defence: 40 (splitbark or skeletal armor)
Hits: 46 or so
Combat: (censor) 50
With prayer: This would also be good if you like using prayer.
Mage: 60 (zammy flames or guthix claws)
Defence: 40 (splitbark or skeletal)
Hits: 46 or so
Prayer: 43 or 52
Combat: 55 or 57 with 52 pray.
Melee: This is a plan for a quick melee pker. You should not use this for dueling or solo pking. Do this if you have about 3 or 4 other friends who want to pk with you.
Attack: 50
Strength: 60
Defence: 10
Hitpoints: 50
Combat: 50
Use full black armor and a granite maul. All 4 of you fight in low lvl wildy, multi zone. When you find somebody, you all attack once and spec twice. This should kill any level 40-60 instantly. Congratulations, you have pked full rune.
~!~!~THE ULTIMATE STAKER~!~!~
Post 12
This would be a file I would rate 10/10 (which I never have rated anybody). This would be THE ULTIMATE stake dueling file. I will be working on this concept a lot.
Combat: 105
Attack: 99
Strength: 96
Defence: 70
Hitpoints: 99
Prayer: 1
Stake duel with full Verac, fury, and rune boots. This would own up to lvl 110s or so.
To start this file, get these stats...
Attack: 70
Str: 68
Def: 70
Hits: 65 (if you do some quests for xp)
Prayer: 1
Combat: 78
~!~!~THE RANGER DECIMATER~!~!~
Post 13
This is a file that will decimate rangers, providing you duel them and them ONLY and with armor on. You use rune plate, granite shield and granite legs. This defence vs ranged bonus will incapacitate them almost completely and you will be able to take out rangers with ranged up to 92 or so. You MUST have armor on with this character so it may be best to have it as a secondary file so when you see a ranger in the arena you pop out with this file and challange him.
Attack: 60
Strength: 64
Defence: 50
Hits: 60
Pray: 1
Combat: 68
~!~!~NOTE~!~!~
This is NOT an effective staking file and I suggest you go with any of the others. HOWEVER, if you enjoy spending time and money making stakers, this is another to add to your collection. THIS FILE MAY ALSO BE USED AS A STAKE BOXER.
~!~!~A STORY~!~!~
Ok, I was stake duelling on my pure. I see a level 84 in full Verac and decide I might give him a few tips on duelling. I ask him to add me to friends, I find out he is new to duelling and has just recently purchased his full Verac. I look him up on highscores, he has 70 defence and fairly low prayer. I think "perfect, I can teach him and he will own!" So I teach him quite a few duelling tips and tricks and he tells me "I came here just to try out my full v, I never expected to make a career out of staking!". I think "this guy has potential!" So I ask him if he has any money, he says no. Apperantly he had no good items or cash because he just spent it all on full v. I decided "ok, he needs to make some staking money first" so I tell him to meet gluepot5000 at draynor bank. I switch files and go to draynor. I tell him I am going to show him how to get xp and make some good money. I give him 1k cooked salmon because he has no food. I tell him to withdraw his full verac, his glory, his legends cape, 20 salmon and 30 gp. He makes a big argument and finally I just take him to Karamja without his verac. I had a whole plan to show him the power of full Verac against the obby monsters. So I take him to the obby monsters and ask him to try killing a few to test his strength against them. He pulls out some ranging gear and says he will range them. I knew he would not do much to the monsters with ranged and wanted him to see how good he was with Verac. So I ask him to get his verac and 20 salmon. He says "I know what you are trying to do, and it won't work." I told him I just wanted to help him and he says "You greedy lvl 100! I knew I couldn't trust you!". So I told him to pull out 20 salmon and tele runes so he could be sure I am not scamming. He is sure I am a scammer by now and says he won't fall for it. I tell him he needs to test his strength for one and will love the xp for another. I told him of my luck with drops here.
-Continued.
He again refused and would not shake his belief that I was a scammer. I told him that there was no way he would lose his Verac if he used food and tele runes. He again persisted that I was scamming. I knew this kid had potential, but he wouldn't trust me. I told him "I have given up on you. You are too stubborn and will not trust me. Anybody who knows me from the forums would feel lucky to have me intrested in them and you simply throw it away calling me a mere scammer". I removed him from my friends lists on my main and my pure.
Moral of the story:
When a well known staking expert is intrested in you, trust her.
~!~!~PRAYER BEAST~!~!~
Post 15
Prayer beasts are not very common because most people like to stake with prayer off. However, if you do make a prayer beast and can find people who will stake you with prayer on, you will be really successful. The point of a prayer beast is to have an unusually high prayer level to gain advantages in combat. The following is a good prayer beast to start with, and one to go for in a fairly longterm goal.
For starters:
Attack: 60
Strength: 56
Defence: 1
Magic: 59 (family crest)
Ranged: 70 (armor)
Hitpoints: 65 (approximately)
Prayer: 60
Combat: 61
From here, go for these stats...
Attack: 70
Strength: 68
Defence: 20 (initiate)
Magic: 59
Ranged: 70 (optional)
Hitpoints: 70 (approximately)
Prayer: 75
Combat: 76
Make sure you do Recruitment Drive. It will help a LOT in terms of armor. Use an abbyssel whip for stake duelling, put nothing on except 1 handed weapons, no potions, no movement, prayer ON, food off. When you want to train, you can train at the Ape Atoll at the prayer alter. Prayer beasts have a distinct training advantage over regular pures.

Many thanks to the following people, they have both benefitted from my guide/experience and have shared the outcome.
Krist1an92 - He would have lost his pumpkin in a duel, but due to some rule changes I told him to put in, he won about 4m off the guy, and gave 500k of it to me.
